COSTIN-NATHAN (England)
Frank Costin was an authority in the domain of aerodynamics. He had designed airplanes in order of the Havilland-factory and beside it more than forty sports- and racing cars. For example, he has drawn the Lotus 8 and Elite for Colin Chapman, a Formula 1-car for Vandervell and the first Marcos ('cos' stands for Costin).
In the year 1965, he built in order of Roger Nathan the Costin-Nathan, which had a triplex body. These cars were terribly fast and almost couldn't be defeated in the 1.0-litre class in 1966. During a 500 km-race on the Nürburgring, a Costin-Nathan didn't just win his class, he also improved the round record.
In 1967, Roger Nathan drove with one of his cars the 24 hours-race at Le Mans, but had to quit already after four hours un-fortunately. The electric part of his car let him down.
On the 5th of February in 1995, Frank Costin died of cancer at the age of 75.
